The letter from the President of ACP to all randonneurs

Good evening!

After more than ten days of silence, finally, we received an official message from Audax Club Parisien. It is the reply to our open letter with a demand to imply sanctions against clubs in Russia and Belarus.

Here is this message:

Paris, 2022 March 09

Dear ACP Representatives, Dear Randonneurs,

While we are living an extremely difficult time due to Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, the Audax Club Parisien would like to send a warm support to all of our friends who are directly or indirectly suffering of Putin’s aggression.

As you all know, Audax Club Parisien is a non-for-profit organization whose sole objective is to promote long distance cycling all over the world. We share with all of you a common passion for a non professional and non competivite sport, whatever your disabilities, your origin, your religion, your gender, your abilities, your health, your professional activities… We love riding together without any competition, with a common goal of achieving long distance rides.

Of course, we totally disagree with the aggression of one country by another one. This is unacceptable, whatever is the aggressor. Like all of you, we would like to live in peace, riding safely on beautiful roads.

Talking about love and friendship while people are killing other ones might be considered as cowardly… and some know it’s not that easy. Audax Club Parisien will support all riders over the world, regardless of their country of residence.

However, since we cannot accept what Russia and Bellorussia as nations are doing in Ukraine, we will remove from all our future publications all mentions to both countries, until Ukraine is free of fighting. Furthermore, as we know that we can find good guys in all countries but also bad guys, we will ban any rider, organizer or ACP representative who promotes Russia’s aggression or any other war.

We will support Ukrainian riders as much as possible, helping them ride safely wherever they want. Audax Club Parisien would like to send a peacefull, friendly and brotherly message to all riders in the world.

We wish you safe and great rides and we would like you to have a friendly thinking to all our friends who are unable to ride because of wars.

For Audax Club Parisien, Luc COPPIN President
